Isotron - Gamma Processing

The plants are designed to use gamma radiation to kill micro-organisms. The radiation comes from pencils of Cobalt 60, which are commercially made isotopes purchased by licensed users. These have a useful life of about 20 years, after which they are returned in part exchange for new rods. The product is moved into a shielded room, around the cobalt source to receive an even dose, then returned to the warehouse.
